BISMARCK—North Dakota firefighters will remember those who died in the line of duty during a ceremony at the state Capitol next month.

In honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the state will have a ceremony at 11 a.m. CT Oct. 12 in Memorial Hall.

The week also marks National Fire Prevention Week and the statewide release of a fire prevention video provided by the North Dakota Firefighter’s Association and the North Dakota Forest Service.

The goal of the video is to increase the understanding of wildfire among youth and young adults and to empower them to implement “fire wise” practices around their homes and in their communities.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is also asking fire departments to contact religious organizations in their communities to participate in ringing bells and to honor fallen firefighters on Oct. 16.  For more information, visit bellsacrossamerica.com.
